At approximately 00:45 hrs. today, Sunday June 1, the Erskine Lakes Fire Company, Skyline Lake Fire Dept. and Ringwood First Aid Squad were dispatched to Sloatsburg Rd in the area of Ringwood Manor for an auto accident with entrapment.

Erskine Lakes Chief 240 arrived on scene and corrected the location to be at the intersection of Sloatsburg Rd. and Farm Rd. and reported a 1 vehicle MVA, off the roadway with 1 person trapped and established the Command.

Ass't Chief 245 arrived as well and was tasked with supervising and overseeing the stabilization and extrication efforts.

Erskine Lakes Rescue 242 arrived on scene and stabilized the vehicle, which was partially up on a rocky ledge, with the Res-Q-Jacks and cribbing. The crew from Rescue 242 then completely removed the driver's side door. The crew then assisted the First Aid Squad with removing the patient from the vehicle.

While the Rescue crew was busy working on the vehicle, Erskine Lakes Engine 241 arrived on scene and stretched an 1 3/4" hand line in the event it was needed for suppression.

Erskine Lakes Fire Company Rescue Responds to Motor Vehicle Accident
December 23, 2013 - Posted by ELFC

At approximately 03:00 hrs on Thursday, December 19 the Stonetown Fire Dept. was dispatched to Rt 511 just south of Stonetown Rd for a single car MVA. The Stonetown Chief (260) arrived to find a 1 car motor vehicle accident off the roadway on a steep incline and 1 person trapped. 260 requested that the Erskine Lakes Fire Dept. be dispatched for the Rescue.

Erskine Lakes Chief 240 and Rescue 242 responded with 7 men. Stonetown Tanker 262 arrived on scene and, with some quick and smart thinking, utilized the chain and come-a-long that they had to help secure the driver side front axle of the vehicle to the guardrail. Erskine Lakes Rescue 242 arrived moments later and further stabilized the vehicle. The crew from the R-242 used the winch to stabilize the rear of the car and used a chain and come-a-long to the "C" post to provide further stabilization. Once that was complete, the Rescue crew removed the driver's side front door. Crews from Erskine and Stonetown, along with EMS, worked together to remove the patient from the vehicle.

Great teamwork, coordination and communication by both Fire Departments made a difficult situation run smooth and efficiently.
