Erskine Lakes Volunteer Fire Company No 1
Chimney Fire extends to walls
On Sunday October 30 at 1747, the Erskine Lakes Fire Company was requested to Windbeam Loop to check the residents’ fire
place. The police department arrived on scene and reported smoke conditions and requested all three fire departments be
dispatched. Erskine Lakes Engine 241 arrived on scene to a one story wood frame house with smoke coming out the front door.
Stonetown Assistant Chief 265 arrived on scene and established command. Crews from 241 investigated inside to report the fire in
the fireplace was already out. A crew was sent to the roof and dropped chimney chains. The smoke started to push from around
the fireplace. It was found that there was a fire inbetween the inside wall and fireplace. A second alarm was called with a FAST
Team requested out of Pompton Lakes . West Milford Company 3 was summoned to the scene to assist with manpower. Also
assisted as Ringwood Ambulance Corp. and Eagle Valley Fire Company. The building was deemed unsafe to live in.
